I hate coming up with titles…
I always mean to get back into blogging, and this is my enforced opportunity.
Saturdays are “supposed” to be a relaxing day home, but for me it’s the busier of my days off. (I’m “not available” to work on Saturdays, just to make sure I have some social time with the people in “normal jobs”… i.e. not in retail like I am.)
Today started off with picking up my friend H who lives just down the street and heading to Panera in Watchung for our Official Saturday knit group. Of course, I did have to feed Bob, my Toyota Yaris (It’s a long story… maybe next time) on the way, so we were too late to get any of the comfy chairs. Oh, and I still had some work to do so I could hand in an assignment before noon, so I needed a table anyway.
Anyway. Knit group. Sounds entirely ENTRANCING, doesn’t it? Happens to be one of the highlights of my week. Saturday at Panera, and Tuesday at either Starbucks or the Coffee Beanery. My yarnfriends hold my world together.
So, we get to Panera about 10:10, and don’t even notice when the music changes from the morning selection of classical guitar music to the afternoon saxophone jazz (usually about 11:20 or so… completely missed it). We WERE paying attention when Tall Lady and her boyfriend showed up. (No story here… She’s just a VERY TALL lady who comes for lunch every week about 12:30. We look forward to her appearance.)
Knitting was accomplished by all, I handed in my assignment, and eventually it was time to move on to lunch… I know, I know. We were in a restaurant. But H and I didn’t want Panera for lunch after having it for breakfast. Instead, we met some friends at the newish TGI Friday’s in town, and had far too much food. (Breaded fried string beans. Who knew?)
H and I got stuck in a snarl of traffic on the way to AC Moore (They’re installing new traffic cameras. On a Saturday. Why would you do that on a day that will have heavy traffic?), and wound up buying nothing because they didn’t have the needles she was looking for. I dropped her off at her house, and went home for an exciting afternoon of laundry.
… Did you know that in order for laundry to get clean, you have to put detergent in? I forgot on the first load. :-/ My excuse is that I had pretreated a couple of stains on the shirts I need for work, and just forgot about the detergent. So, my colors have been washed twice today. Once without soap, and once with.
Knitting! I’ve been working on an AMAZING pattern from the latest knitty- the Constantine cape. I only have a couple of inches so far, but I cannot WAIT for it to be done. The yarn I’m using is Cascade Eco Duo, which is the softest, most delicious thing in the world. I just want to snuggle the skein it’s so soft.
I’ve done a good bit of spindle spinning today, too. The fiber is a blend of superwash Corriedale, tussah silk, silk noil, and sari silk. The singles were spun up on my teeny tiny Jenkins Turkish Delight spindle, and I’m plying on a Jesh spindle I got the other day.
And now I must bid adieu- my laundry is finally done in the dryer.
